Research and Data

Our team conducts innovative, translational research to produce actionable data and insights. We use an interdisciplinary approach, integrating knowledge from public health, criminal justice, and economics to understand the complex problem of violence. Our research informs effective policies and interventions, with a primary focus on firearm violence prevention and expanding to address all forms of violence.

Education and Training

We are committed to sharing reliable data and resources with the public and professionals. Our initiatives include public education campaigns, free online training courses like the "BulletPoints Community: Firearms & Mental Health" program, and professional development opportunities for aspiring researchers and clinicians. We aim to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent violence and promote well-being.

Community Engagement

We work directly with and are accountable to the communities most affected by violence. Our community engagement efforts include supporting programs like the UC Davis Health Wraparound Program, which provides care to young victims of violence, and the Black & Brown Collective, which supports scholars working to understand and address structural violence. We ensure our research is meaningful and accessible to those who need it most.

Policy Development

Our team uses research to inform and shape evidence-based violence prevention policies. We collaborate with national partners, advise government officials, and serve on commissions to guide community leaders and lawmakers. By evaluating violence prevention measures and briefing policymakers on the latest research, we help create and implement effective strategies that have a lasting impact.
