Highlight on recent work from VPRP's research data analysts
Inside our November 2024 Newsletter Issue
Our work would not be possible without our cadre of dedicated research data analysts. Their expertise, creativity, and perspective enrich our research and our team. Many of these analysts have led academic papers, and we’d like to highlight recent examples:
- Asia Ivey, et al. Community violence intervention & prevention strategies: Mitigating variations in school and neighborhood violence in Theory, Research, and Action in Urban Education. Dr. Ivey and colleagues emphasize the pervasiveness of structural violence as it impacts Black and brown students. They encourages educators to implement CVI strategies in the school environment to enhance student learning and dismantle systemic barriers.
- Julia Lund, et al. Community-based violence intervention in the aftermath of homicide: community violence prevention specialists’ proximity to and perspectives on community safety and healing in Homicide Studies. Ms. Lund and colleagues describe how community violence prevention specialists possess theoretical understanding as well as lived, personal, and professional experiences crucial for creating solutions to address the complexities of community violence and trauma.
- Julia Schleimer, et al. Social network size and endorsement of political violence in the US in Injury Epidemiology. Ms. Schleimer and colleagues found that people with very few strong social connections as well as those with very many strong social connections were more likely than others to support political violence or be personally willing to engage in it.
We appreciate our analysts and their valuable contributions to our team!
