UCDMC Wraparound Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program
Quick Summary
- UCDMC Wraparound successfully provided intensive case management, relationship-based mentoring, financial and resource assistance, and emotional and social support to more than 50 clients during the 3 year project period.

Nicole Kravitz-Wirtz, PhD, MPH, and Shani Buggs, PhD, MPH, co-wrote an evaluation report alongside Christy Adams, PhD, MPH, RN and Ian Brown, MD, PhD on the UCDMC Wraparound Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program.
This Local Evaluation Report (LER)—the result of a multi-year learning and evaluation effort led by researchers at the UC Davis Violence Prevention Research Program in partnership with the Wraparound team—summarizes Wraparound activities from October 1, 2020 through June 30, 2023, and examines effectiveness in meeting the needs of violently injured youth and young adult patients (referred to as “clients” after hospital discharge and program enrollment), affecting change in risk and resilience factors associated with violence, and preventing re-injury.
UCDMC achieved recognition within and beyond the UC Davis Health system for helping to reframe community violence as a preventable public health issue that can be transformed through trauma-informed and patient- and healing-centered care in partnership with local communities.
